Nous Research takes Hermes Agent to businesses with team accounts and on-premises deployment

Nous Research is putting its business offerings for the open-source AI agent Hermes Agent front and center: Hermes Business and Hermes Enterprise. In a note published on October 7, 2026, the company said it has closed a new funding round and will use it to build out Hermes for businesses. Hermes Business is available to teams through Nous Portal, while Hermes Enterprise installs the same stack on a company's own servers or the cloud of its choice.

Hermes Agent is an AI agent Nous Research built in 2025 and released under the MIT license in February 2026. According to the company, the agent remembers a user's projects, writes reusable skills as it works and carries that knowledge across sessions, with the aim of getting better the more it is used. Users choose where the agent runs and which AI model it uses. According to the documentation, it runs on Windows, macOS and Linux and connects to more than 20 messaging platforms, including Telegram, Discord, Slack, WhatsApp and Microsoft Teams, through a single gateway.

Hermes Business gives a team a shared agent setup

According to Nous Research's product page, Hermes Business gives every team member their own agent hosted on Nous infrastructure. The team owner invites colleagues by email from the Team page in Nous Portal. The team draws from one central balance, and owners can set a spending cap for each member. Owners and admins manage roles, spending caps and API keys.

The headline feature is shared skills. When one member's agent learns how to do a task and saves it as a skill, that skill is published to the team library and becomes available to everyone's agent. The company stresses that the skills, memory and workflows a team builds over time become capability the company owns. The agents work with every model on Nous's inference API or with a company's own provider keys, and cost and return can be tracked across models in one harness. Teams can reach their agents on Discord, Telegram, Slack and WhatsApp through the Team Gateway, as well as from the terminal, desktop apps and the cloud. According to the page, each team runs in an isolated tenant on Nous infrastructure.

Hermes Enterprise runs on a company's own infrastructure

Hermes Enterprise brings the same capabilities to a company's own servers or a cloud it chooses, so data stays on that company's infrastructure. Nous Research says this tier includes tailored deployment, single sign-on (SSO), service level agreements (SLAs) and hands-on onboarding. Business is self-serve, while Enterprise requires contacting the company. According to Nous's September 14 announcement, Enterprise is already used by some of the world's largest companies; the company does not name them.

New investment goes toward the business products

According to the October 7 note signed by Nous Research CEO Dillon Rolnick, the company raised new capital from investors including NVIDIA, Microsoft's M12, Samsung and Y Combinator. The note says this capital and new partners will be used to build and deliver Hermes for businesses. According to the company, the goal is to let businesses pick the best model for their goals and budget, scale AI use safely and privately, and keep control of their institutional knowledge. In a post on its X account, Nous Research also said it will build a mobile app. Hermes Agent's code remains open on GitHub under the MIT license, and individuals can still run the agent on their own computer or server for free.

Because Hermes Business runs on Nous infrastructure, team data passes through Nous systems; keeping data in-house requires an Enterprise deployment. The product page does not list prices; current pricing can be checked when creating a team. The funding note indicates that the business version of Hermes is still being developed, so features may change over time.
