Grok Bot, the AI agent from Elon Musk's AI company, can now connect to users' bank, credit card and investment accounts through a new Finance integration. Once accounts are linked, users can ask Grok Bot for help with spending, investing and more. The feature is currently available only to users in the US.
What Grok Bot is
Grok Bot is an AI agent the company launched in beta in August. According to the company, each Bot has its own computer. Bots sign into the tools and apps users already work with, carry jobs through from start to finish, and only come back when something needs approval. Grok Bot is available to SuperGrok subscribers and some Cursor plan users on desktop and iOS.
What the Finance integration does
After linking their accounts, users can ask Grok Bot questions in plain language. In the company's example, a user asks which subscriptions they are paying for and which ones went up in price. Grok Bot scans a year of recurring charges across the linked credit card and bank accounts, lists the subscriptions, flags the ones that got more expensive and spots that the user is paying for two music services, then puts together a list to review.
The launch image shows logos of major US banks and investment firms such as Chase, American Express, Bank of America, Wells Fargo and Charles Schwab.
How accounts connect
Accounts link through Plaid, a service widely used in the US to connect bank accounts to apps. According to the company, access is read-only, Grok Bot never sees users' banking logins, and accounts can be unlinked at any time. To get started, users search for "Finance" in Grok Bot's marketplace.
Grok's chat app got a similar finance connection through Plaid in early September, and at the end of August the company added crypto buying and selling to Grok through MoonPay. With these steps, AI assistants are moving past answering questions and into personal finance. Users thinking about sharing financial data with an AI service may want to check which accounts they are granting access to and how their data is handled in the company's privacy terms.
