# Xiaomi opens its desktop agent: MiMo Desktop enters invite-only beta with two new preview models

Xiaomi has opened **MiMo Desktop**, its desktop AI application, to invited testers. The company released two new preview models at the same time: **MiMo-X-Pro-Preview** and **MiMo-X-Flash-Preview**. Use is free for the duration of the early access period.

It does not behave like a chat box. You describe a goal in plain language; the application reads your own materials, breaks the work into subtasks, calls the tools it needs and hands back **editable files**. The output list is wide: documents, spreadsheets, slides, web pages, images, audio, video, 3D models, apps and software projects. It reads tables, images, video and PDF material directly.

## The output is a working page, not a picture

The web output is where it separates itself. The preview it returns is not a screenshot but a **working page**, with its component structure and interaction logic intact. You click it, use it and keep editing on top of it, and you do not need a front-end environment on your own machine to do so. Any element on the page can be selected and edited in place, and every edit is kept as its own version.

There is also a routing layer inside the app. A mode called Smart assesses the type and complexity of the task and decides for itself which model and which agents will run; the user does not pick a model. The application can also drive the browser, pulling what it finds into the current workflow.

## What is closed

This is not an open-source announcement. The beta is entered by invitation, the model weights were not shared, and no licence information was given. What exists is a working product and time-limited access to two preview models.

The MiMo-V2.5 family Xiaomi announced earlier claimed to handle image, video, audio and text in a single model; the desktop application puts that capability in front of the user as a program. The meaning is straightforward: a Chinese manufacturer has stepped directly into desktop agent territory.
