Musk says Optimus will be the biggest product in history

Elon Musk has never been shy about big claims, but with Optimus he raised the bar above his own records: "Optimus will be the biggest product in history." With one demo video after another, Tesla's humanoid robot is turning that line from a slogan into a plan.

In the latest video shared by the Humanoid Intelligence account on X, which also drew wide attention in China's AI community, Optimus is placed in a fully furnished home. Across published demos the robot has swept floors, run a vacuum, taken out the trash, stirred a pot on the stove, folded laundry and watered plants. Tesla's message is blunt: Optimus will soon be able to do all of these tasks and much more on its own.

The real weight of Musk's claim is not even in the chance that robot sales one day surpass cars. The point is that Tesla is attempting, for the first time, to industrialize something that could previously only be done by human hands: universal labor. A machine that understands natural language, learns by watching a person demonstrate a task once, and rolls off production lines by the millions into homes and factories is no longer selling a robot. It is selling a mass-producible "worker".

Musk is moving that vision onto the factory floor step by step: the V3 production line is expected to ramp this summer, with the first external customer deliveries targeted for late 2026. An engineering culture that took "impossible" electric cars and reusable rockets into mass production is now repeating the same bet on housework, and competitors are already losing sleep over it.

To be clear, a demo is still a demo; you cannot buy an Optimus today, and how much of the on-screen fluidity is fully autonomous remains debated. But Musk's track record speaks for itself: the word "hype" attached to his claims has usually turned out to be a forecast that was merely a few years early.
