# Google's Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash extends video scenes up to 40 seconds

Google announced Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash on 27 August, a new version of its multimodal model for video generation and editing. The company describes it as giving developers building creative tools and media editing software "improved control over generative video".

The headline addition is scene extension. The model can extend a video in 10-second increments up to a cumulative length of 40 seconds. According to Google it now analyses the last 10 seconds of existing footage rather than only the final second, as the previous version did, in order to keep the extended section visually consistent.

Developers can also specify the first and last frames of a shot and leave the transition to the model, supply up to three seconds of external footage as a style reference, and upscale a shot they like to 4K.

The model adds a low-resolution draft mode as well. Google says generating at 360p is "up to 60% faster" and costs "a third" of 720p, aimed at testing ideas cheaply.

Per-second pricing is $0.03 for 360p, $0.10 for 720p, $0.15 for 1080p and $0.30 for 4K. The Decoder noted that Veo 3.1 Lite, listed in Google's own pricing table at $0.05 for 720p and $0.08 for 1080p, undercuts the new model at those resolutions.

Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash is available through Google AI Studio, Google Flow and the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform. Scene extension is going to Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra subscribers globally in the Gemini app.
