Claude Cowork gets a built-in browser that navigates sites and fills forms
Anthropic added a Chromium-based browser to its desktop app. It opens in the side panel when a task needs a website, and stays separate from the user's own browser, tabs and passwords.
Anthropic announced that Cowork in its desktop app now includes a built-in, Chromium-based browser. The feature works on the Mac, Windows and Linux versions.
It works like this: when a task requires a website, a browser opens in the side panel and Claude navigates pages, reads them, clicks and types. The company's examples include filling in a form, pulling numbers from a dashboard, and working through a portal that has no connector.
There is no setup and no extension to install. According to Anthropic the browser stays separate from the user's own, so Claude cannot see their tabs, bookmarks or passwords, and nothing is shared from the user's browser unless they choose to.
Once the feature reaches an account it is on by default: give Claude a task involving a website and the browser opens on its own.
The rollout is limited to paid plans. It is going out to Pro, Max and Team subscribers, and is available now on Enterprise plans, where admins can manage it under Organization settings → Cowork → Built-in browser.
