The new problem of the agent era is keeping up with the count: companies run dozens, some thousands, of agents, and nobody can keep an inventory. AWS moved into that gap; CEO Matt Garman announced that AWS Agent Registry is now generally available. The description is plain: the centralized catalog and control plane for all agents, tools and resources in a company.

The customer examples Garman cites show how real the problem is. Southwest Airlines went from wrestling with dozens of agents without a shared registry to a single managed catalog that cuts duplicated development work. PepsiCo is centralizing agent discovery and governance at enterprise scale. Syngenta's teams publish once and reuse instead of rebuilding.

The registry's promise fits in three words: discovery, governance, reuse. Teams can find each other's agents, security and compliance can see who runs what, and the same agent does not get written twice. The control plane part matters too: the catalog is not just a list but the place where what tools each agent can reach is managed.

The bigger picture continues this week's thread: Uber told us it has handed over 70 percent of its software work to agents, and a SpaceXAI engineer described working with five bots. Once agent counts exploded, the next need was inventory; the largest cloud provider arriving here with an official product opens the next layer of the agent infrastructure race.
