Apple released Siri AI today, a rebuilt version of its assistant running on the next generation of Apple Intelligence. It arrives with the company's 2027 software releases and rolls out in English beta first, expanding to French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish next month.

According to Apple, the assistant understands personal context, draws on broad world knowledge, is aware of what is on screen and can perform systemwide app actions. It can search a user's messages, emails and photos. In Apple's example, Siri finds an activity a relative suggested in a message, pulls the recipe from an earlier email from that person, and adds the ingredients to a grocery list in Reminders.

## Apps and access points

Siri still acts inside third-party apps, such as texting someone in WhatsApp or playing a book in Audible. Apple says users will soon be able to have Siri draft an email in Microsoft Outlook, search for a homework assignment in Notability or add a restaurant recommendation to Tripsy.

On iPhone, besides "Hey Siri", the assistant can be invoked with the side button or by swiping down from the Dynamic Island. On iPad and Mac it sits in Spotlight and in systemwide context menus, so a Control-click can start a question about an image, file or text. On Apple Vision Pro it appears as a 3D visualisation that users can place anywhere in their space and activate by looking at it. A new standalone Siri app syncs conversation history across devices through iCloud.

## Voice, dictation and visual features

Apple says systemwide dictation is more accurate on products that support AFM Core Advanced, its most advanced on-device model, handling capitalisation, punctuation and formatting as the user speaks. The expressiveness and pace of Siri's voice can be adjusted.

Visual Intelligence now reaches iPad, Mac and Apple Vision Pro. On iPhone it is built into the Camera app through a new Siri mode: looking at a festival poster, a user can ask for set times and have Siri create several calendar events. On iPad it is tied to the screenshot flow, and on Mac to a keyboard shortcut.
