On 17 September, Anthropic launched the Life Sciences Verification Program (LSVP) in beta. It gives verified life-science professionals a more permissive Claude, opening tasks that are blocked in the generally available Fable models: drug discovery, research biology, clinical development and manufacturing.

## How it works

The program is both a verification gate and a capability unlock. Verified users reach Mythos, Opus and Sonnet with classifiers that are more permissive for science tasks than the general models. Each applying organization is reviewed for research credentials, security standards and ethical research oversight.

## Two access tiers

Standard Use covers most life-science work; it extends to a whole team, renews yearly and today applies to Mythos 5.1, Opus 5 and Sonnet 5\. High-risk Use is an add-on grant that removes all safeguards blocking life-science requests, is tied to a single research project and renews every six months. High-risk grants are available today for Claude Opus 5 and Claude Sonnet 5.

## Government and oversight

Anthropic says it is working with the US government to make high-risk Mythos grants more broadly available; at launch those Mythos grants remain limited to a small, extra-vetted set of entities. The program also shifts from real-time blocking to offline monitoring against each organization's stated use, a shared-responsibility model with enterprise security leads. Data for flagged activity is kept 30 days, and non-life-science safeguards such as cyber classifiers stay in place.

Early users include Xaira Therapeutics, Edison Scientific and Manifold Bio; Anthropic says it onboarded dozens of organizations in early access and expects hundreds within the first week.
