An archive of more than 12 terabytes has leaked, containing builds of every game uploaded to Steam between 2003 and 2013. Because of its size, the full contents are not yet known.
Findings so far include assets related to the cancelled Half-Life 2: Episode 3, content cut from Portal 2, and a build of a game called F-Stop, set in the Portal universe and built around a camera mechanic.
Third-party titles included
The leak is not limited to Valve's own work. Early versions of Call of Duty and Resident Evil instalments have been dug up, along with builds of Mirror's Edge, Batman: Arkham Asylum and Dragon Age: Origins. More is expected to surface as people work through the trove.
According to The Verge, the most interesting discoveries so far relate to Portal 2. Deleted dialogue that changes how players see Companion Cubes, alternative intro and GLaDOS sequences, and a version of the Weaponizer intended for Half-Life 2: Episode 3 have all been found.
